Due to personal reasons, Portico Quartet had to cancel their shows! We are sad to hear that and wish them all the best. Tickets will be reimbursed at the places you bought them.
With Portico Quartet, an impressive live band presents their unique sound, which has earned praise from audiences and critics in and outside of Great Britain, at RADIALSYSTEM V.
Drawing on the inspiration of minimal music, ambient and jazz, with influences ranging from trip-hop to dubstep, the four friends from London’s East End create their diversified, subtle and partly quite danceable music.

The first releases of the quartet were dominated by the unique sound of the “hang” – a percussion instrument designed in Switzerland, which is reminiscent of a steel drum and visually of a wok turned upside-down.
Now the band has continued to consequently develop their sound by embracing electronics in the form of effects, loops and samples, thereby “managing to fuse acoustic with digital material as it is rarely achieved” on their current album.

The evening at RADIALSYSTEM V is opened by the band project of the Czech clarinetist, producer and multimedia artist Floex: His music merges influences from nu-jazz, electronica and contemporary classical music, with his albums and soundtracks being awarded several prizes.
Joined by a second clarinetist, vocals and drums, he presents the dense, deep and atmospherical sound of his latest LP “Zorya” in one of his rare concerts in Germany on the stage of UM:LAUT in October.

Tomáš Dvořák started his project Floex in 1996, influenced by the music of British independent labels like Warp Records, Pork Recordings or Ninja Tune.
In 2001, he released his first album “Pocustone” which combines his electronic sounds reminiscent of LTJ Bukem or Amon Tobin with the warm sound of his clarinet.

His music also became known for the soundtracks for the video game developer Amanita Design, with the award-winning game “Machinarium” of 2009 turning into a cult game.
His latest album “Zorya”, which was released by Denovali Records in 2011, is darker but far from being less energetic and multilayered as the preceding album – densely arranged, partly complex, partly groovy and catchy tracks between jazz, ambient, IDM, and minimal.
This event is highly recommended by Digital in Berlin! We are giving away 2 x 2 tickets. Just send a mail to win@digitalinberlin.de with “Portico Quartet & Floex” as the subject.
