D/B Recommended: Helmut & Webermichelson @ Hausungarn (Ex-HBC) Berlin | Saturday, 16.03.2013

Helmut is a classically trained guitarist gone pop.

The signals working their way from the guitar pick ups and microphone through his looping device are combining different patterns.

Tribal poly rhythmics are fused with harmonic use of voice-layering and a delicate touch of distortion and noise, leaving just enough space and providing a solid foundation for the fragile melody bringing it all together.

The music of Leipzig’s Philipp Weber and Sven Michelson aka Webermichelson is hard to describe with words. It’s something between role play and social network. Between concept art and rave after-hours.

Their free-floating sounds remind of the principles of Detroit Techno, Krautrock, Ambient and Freejazz.

Webermichelson | Pulchritudinous

What seems to be thorougly planned and constructed is in reality the result of the intuitive use of a modular system – levitating between strategy and impromptu, between concentration, storytelling and ecstasy.
