Aaron Funk, aka Venetian Snares, a producer of hardcore drum’n’bass noise, gained a profile in experimental techno circles with his signing to the Planet µ label run by Mike Paradinas.

It’s a tribute to his production prowess that his base of Winnipeg, Manitoba, hasn’t prevented IDM enthusiasts around the world from investigating his recordings.

Funk’s first release was Shiver in Eternal Darkness, an EP for the Isolate label, followed by Doll Doll Doll for Hymen and Greg Hates Car Culture for History of the Future.

When Paradinas heard the latter, he immediately hired Funk for Planet µ. The first Venetian Snares LP, Making Orange Things (a co-production with Speedranch), dropped in early 2001.

Following in short order were four more LPs or mini-LPs, all released before the end of 2002. Funk continued recording for a variety of labels, including Hymen, and has also recorded as Snares Man! and the less elusive Senetian Vnares.

The following years continued to be prolific for Venetian Snares, among whose releases were 2004’s Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding, 2005’s Hungarian-inspired Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett, and 2006’s Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms and Hospitality, all of which came on Planet µ.

Techdiff aka Dave Forrester’s productions are soaked with the sniper-like precision that always gets attention while being very rare. The main difference from a lot of other producers is the weight of thoughts and accuracy his tracks are made of.

TechDiff can look into a very bright future, outgunning many up-to-date producers because here you’ll find the perfectly balanced amount of havoc and detail.

Hecq (real name – Ben Lukas Boysen) is an artist that works with musical technology and presents remixes that spotlight unseen facets in the work of other musicians.

In his music, atmospheric soundscapes meet sharp cadences and abrupt breaks which leads the enthralled listener into Hecq’s world – an audiobook without a narrator.
