The exhibition presents the complex research process of reconstructing an acousmatic composition as an active experience. It is based on the juxtaposition of a text-sound composition and several graphic scores.

The starting point of this concept is the further development of the sound installation TRACES-OF from 2019: after listening to a sound collage once, 17 probands were asked to describe the sound event and to imitate supposedly involved sounds. “Traces-Of (Chapter 2)” is now dedicated to the artistic interpretation of the research results obtained in the first part of the exhibition: A collage-like 4-channel text-sound composition with references to crime radio plays has been created from the text fragments and sound materials obtained from the interviews.

As an extension of the auditory level, the graphic scores reflect the individual perspectives of the 17 participants and translate the temporal sequences of events, sound sources and interpretations described by them into different drawings. Through the comparability gained in the process, the resulting graphics clarify the commonalities and differences of the different perspectives and support the contextualisation and orientation within the text-sound composition.

The exhibition project visualises our construction of individual reality, in which the evidence and statements provided can be perceived, interpreted, evaluated or even manipulated differently through our personal experiences and habits. The verifiable “truth” of the original composition, however, inevitably remains identical and only exists in just one single version.

Stefan Roigk works with the intermedial interweaving of abstract sound collages, installations, drawings and text-sound compositions. Sound as an artistic-aesthetic field of research is the starting point as well as the central medium of his works. His artistic focus lies on the dynamic staging of context-related fragments of everyday life, which he transforms into narrative-like, stage-like spatial compositions in the sense of visual music.
