The Sunday Matinee No. 29 at Internet Explorer / Sunday, 10.06.2018

After its big comeback the other week, The Sunday Matinee is going to be back on the 10th of June for its 2nd edition at Internet Explorer, your home away from home on the web.

#29 features the following line-up:

Beef Gordon, a medium-rare talent from New York whose admirers allegedly have labelled him a “trashy Jarvis at his best and yet visionary, provocateur, drifter, former evangelical, white collar criminal, existentialist, and world class singer.” Upon closer inspection, “Beige Corolla” sort of sounds like Suicide playing a Springsteen tune on a Casiotone.

Werwolf in Aspik, an enigmatic local space rock outfit that combines synth-heavy NDW tunes with a signature abundantly pressurized vocal sound and lyrical musings on fringe topics such as the “Venus von Willendorf”. Who the hell are Werwolf in Aspik? Come in and find out.

XDC, a duo made up of artist/activist Michel Chevalier from D.C. on clarinets and Baltimore experimental composer and musician Andy Hayleck on clarinet and banjo…but expect darker moments laden within gipsy jazz tints.

This time around there’s going to be food as well: Los Nopales – Taquería Vegana will be preparing vegan tacos de nopales.

XB Sunday Matinee is a series of monthly events on every second Sunday of the month, dedicated to music lovers and music nerds alike. It takes place in the afternoon from 4-7pm.

The Matinee showcases local bands, offering music enthusiasts an open, supportive, and respectful environment in which to play. It encourages people that do ‘zines or handcrafts (or anyone with something to share) to come along. Children of all ages are also welcome. The Matinee’s only real requirement is respect for all others while in attendance.
