Thank you for a huge 2023!

As the year comes to an end, we want to express our gratitude for your unwavering support and reflect upon our highlights of 2023.

Our Kiezsalon saw over two-thirds of the artists having their Berlin premieres and almost every event being sold out. This year’s program spanned seven distinctive sites in Berlin, with more than half being our first time hosting at these venues. It was a pleasure to have you as a part of our community and journey. Flick back through the year with our selection of impressions.

In March, we screened Béla Tarr‘s cinematic masterpiece, Sátántangó, at silent green with a live rescoring by Shed, KMRU, Elena Kakaliagou, Martina Bertoni and Grischa Lichtenberger. The original composer and lead actor Mihály Víg also joined us, for a one-off collaboration with Robin Hayward and Brass Abacus.

In Spring and Autumn of this year, we presented our first project in Hungary, the Berlin-Budapest Express. Over two weekends, the stunning House of Music hosted our program of international and local artists including the likes of Sven Helbig, Grischa Lichtenberger, Loraine James, Powell, Marina Herlop, Holland Andrews, Beatrice Dillon and Širom.

The curtains have closed on another MADEIRADiG festival edition. Thanks to everyone who embarked on our annual getaway.

This year, we saw performances by Sofia Jernberg, Judith Hamann, Ana Roxanne, Beatrice Dillon, Aires & Canadian Rifle, Rafael Toral, Hannan Jones & Shamica Ruddock, Alan Licht, Leila Bordreuil, Mario Batkovic and more.

We will return to the island next year from 28th November — 3rd December 2024. Until then, travel back through our selection of impressions.

We would like to extend a warm invitation to our first concert of the new year. On Tuesday, January 30 join us for Hayden Pedigo‘s Berlin premiere, marking our first show in collaboration with Gretchen.

The guitarist, politician and performance artist recently appeared on NPR Music’s acclaimed Tiny Desk Concert series, showcasing his quiet, gentle melodies inspired by his Texas Panhandle home. His latest album, released on Mexican Summer, “showcases his studious and inventive approach to the genre” of solo guitar. — Pitchfork

Thank you for your ongoing support over the years. We wish you a wonderful start to 2024.
