SUTURE Festival is an eclectic festival taking place in the picturesque village of Soven, situated between Berlin and Hamburg. For three summery days in August, a former farm will be home to the audiences and artists.
This year’s line-up of musicians invited by Kaja Draksler and Nadja Höhfeld ranges from contemporary music, improvised music and jazz, to psychedelic folk, experimental pop and sound art. The program will open with work by ‘deep listening’ pioneer Pauline Oliveros involving listeners and artists alike. Line-up highlights include punk-driven improvisers Terrie Ex and Andy Moor, a program of contemporary music for the traditional Japanese instrument shō by Naomi Sato and multimedia artist Viola Yip’s site-specific light and sound performance. With Bağlama rock, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek will electrify the festival atmosphere while Jasmine Guffond will present work at the interface of social, political and technical infrastructures sonifying facial recognition algorithms. Film installations in a former stable building, a book and zine showcase and a selection of diverse workshops will enrich the program allowing the audience to engage with a variety of artistic positions.
The half-timbered courtyard with its intimate atmosphere invites you to rest and concentrate on the essentials. True to the tradition of the Wendland, SUTURE Festival cooperates closely with regional actors and focuses on sustainability and environmental compatibility.
This year we are also placing the utmost importance on the health of our audience, artists and team by adhering to a comprehensive hygiene plan in coordination with official regulations and guidelines. In case of cancellation or postponement of the festival tickets already booked can be refunded.
