SICKER MAN is the solo-projekt of TOBIAS VETHAKE.
Classical instruments like guitars, zither, glockenspiel and cello are mixed with electronic toys and synthesizer and then enstranged with heaps of analog effect-pedals.
You could call it folktronica, but it’s more than just a guitar and a laptop.
Sicker Man | Troubled Mind
Folk songs get wrapped in orchestral soundscapes. “Creating music is at first about absolute intuition, a room full of instruments, toys to play with.
Afterwards i look at what i have recorded and pick everything that is relevant. I think, any music that is released should add something new to the large pool of music that is already existing.”
Sicker Man | Catches
In this concert SICKER MAN will present his 7th album for the first time live. Melancholic popsongs are hidden under epic soundscapes and beats. Analog electronic effects meet acoustic instruments. Folktronica meets krautrock.
With him on stage will be KIKI BOHEMIA, who also supported him on this groundbreaking record. Apart from being a musical highlight, the new album is also a concept album, following a story about a fox who is lost in the big city and tries to escape his inner and outer boundaries. The story will be emphasized by compelling visuals from the video-artist SHARON PAZ.
Gregor Schwellenbach | Maria
Supporting artist will be Gregor Schwellenbach. For Kompakt Records, Schwellenbach recorded an exotic and emotional album, on which he transformed minimal house-tracks into classical minimal music.
He turns the quantized cold of electronic beats into the organic and hypnotic warmth of the piano.
