D/B Recommended: Pär Thörn & Tobias Kirstein / Ayankoko @ Mme Claude Berlin | Monday, 15.04.2013

Kirstein/Thörn have been around for two years now. Their sound is a combination of sinewaves, feedback and screaming.

It’s situated somewhere in between brutal sound poetry, noise and psychedelic electronic music.

Pär Thörn (born in Uddevalla in 1977) is a writer, conceptual artist and musician currently active in Berlin.

As a musician he performs with radio, prepared speakers and tape recorders. A practice where he emphasizes the mechanical aspects of the technology and the unpredictableness of the radio.

TR Kirstein is a musician, performance and installation artist. Kirstein is known for his work as a drummer and composer from a host of collaborative artistic projects, with among others The Light People (with Sune TB Nielsen, Toke Tietze Mortensen), CM von Hausswolff and Leif Elggren.

Kirstein works with a diverse range of material – from computer created sinus tones to the sound of the raw power of electricity in open tape recorders.

Ayankoko is David Vilayleck’s solo project which embraces experimental music, musique concrète, contemporary music, sound art, noise and live electronics.

Ayankoko often questions the perceptive dimension of the sense of hearing and deals with the definition of music, the concept of ugly-beauty and the error in a given space.
