Supports comes from none other than The Pastels from Glasgow, Scotland whos own new album “Slow Summits” came out earlier this year on Domino.

Lali Puna is a band from Weilheim, Germany close to Munich. The group was formed in 1998 and its current members are Valerie Trebeljahr (voice and keyboards), Markus Acher (also member of The Notwist), Christoph Brandner (drums) and Christian Heiß (keyboards). The latter joined Lali Puna in 2003, after keyboard player Florian Zimmer had left the band. They have so far released 3 studio albums, a compilation album and several EPs, all published by the Berlin-based independent label Morr Music. Markus and Christoph are also members of Tied & Tickled Trio.

The story of Lali Puna is inextricably linked to that of the Morr Music label itself. The band’s classic Tridecoder album was the second ever release on the imprint back in 1999 and set a new template for electronic rock music that’s remained in place ever since. In parallel, Morr and Lali Puna have evolved from humble, experimental beginnings before eventually coming to represent the vanguard of modern pop. Fronted by singer and keyboard player Valerie Trebeljahr, Lali Puna’s line-up is completed by drummer Christoph Brandner (also of Tied & Tickled Trio), keyboard player Christian Heiß and Markus Acher – an artist already highly regarded for his work as part of The Notwist.

‘Scary World Theory’ and ‘Faking The Book’ were both landmark releases. Over a decade of recording together this band have continued to grow in strength, confidence and studio expertise, cueing up a triumphant return to full operational capability on ‘Our Inventions’ in 2010. In 2012 they come up with a 10inch release, that shows her love for outsider-pop as well as it serves the demand for something, that you could call the classic Lali Puna-Sound.

The+Pastels

The description “cult band” usually suggests a group that has been going for a while but is only really important to a very small number of people. This definition can be applied to The Pastels, in that they are a permanent feature of student bedrooms, scouring out the back rooms of the Western world. Such an impression may be unfair, as is the fact that good fortune always seems to have eluded them. But their music has been a breath of fresh air – and a fistful of dollars – to a whole generation of musicians, and it doesn’t stop with Teenage Fanclub. Sonic Youth rate them and Kurt Cobain revered them.
