Acud Macht Neu! presents the first ever Berlin live performance by Istanbul based Islandman aka Tolga Büyük who builds a bridge of psychedelic cosmic synth beats from the turkish capital to Berlin. Support djs Spatzhabibi, Carl Luis and Chez Mieke will provide music ranging from afrobeat and disco to dub and hip hop.
Büyük started his solo project Islandman in 2010. Already a part of Istanbuls psychedelic scene with the live-performing band Farfara, he took with him the loose improvisation practice and explored through Islandman his love for afrobeat, kraut & ambient.
The resulting brew of mainly instrumental tracks is a laid back, funky and mind-expanding world of both acoustic instruments, field recordings and crisp electronics. While some sense of his Anatolian roots are evident in his more folky tracks, Islandman has more in common with the international balearic music scene in his invocations of influences.
Having already self-released several digital EPs and one LP, as well as playing live in Turkey on a regular basis, it’s about time the rest of the world gets to know this amazing musical mind. His first release is the digital EP Agit on danish Balearic label Music For Dreams.
Islandman is supported by the SpatzHabibi dj team, dj Chez Mieke and dj Carl Luis.
