Acud Macht Neu – the initial project of the resurrecting underground institution Acud in Mitte – and the Bohemian Drips collective are happy to present a turkish evening with Hayvanlar Alemi and Farfara, two bands rooted in İstanbul’s music-scene.
When you’ve visited İstanbul, you surely have noticed that it has a very rich musical scene which reaches from jazz and folk via psychedelia to experimental and noisy performances.

Hayvanlar Alemi is a psychedelic folk rock band founded in Ankara. The band members met in secondary school in 1999, when they were 14. Classical rock and heavy metal were big influences on teenagers in Ankara back then, and they started their musical venture playing hard-and-heavy covers, but very soon discovered free improvisation and moved into a more avant-garde approach, and later on occasionally deployed traditional instruments, field recording elements and live radio transmissions, and colorful stage shows.
They were influenced by the new folk-infused experimental rock scene of the late 90s in Istanbul, but isolated from any music scene in Ankara, their sound and song-structure diverged from their contemporaries as they incorporated elements from the findings of their musical research into their sound, which included folk, pop and hybrid sounds of South East Asia, East and West Africa, South America and Russia, as well as Jamaican dub reggae and Californian surf.
[vimeo 73738974 w=620&h=300]Farfara is a band from İstanbul whose members Etkin Cekin, Tolga Böyük and Eralp Güven blend a psychedelic brew of krautrock inspired drums, shoegazy guitars, airy synths, ethereal vocals and a clear commitment to pop.
Farfara are currently working on a new album (“Garden”), on which the band uses a more improvisational and free-form approach.
