Exploratory Music from Poland is a continous presentation of the most inspiring and interesting music recorded or composed in Poland.

There are no stylistic barriers to what is being presented within the frames of the project but the main focus is put on improv, modern composition and experimental electronics.

EMFP up til now has published two cd compilations given away with The Wire magazine in 2009 and 2010, and organized a festival of Polish Exploratory Music in London’s Cafe OTO in Autumn 2010.

This year the project is heading towards Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris and Tokio with more concerts. This time the main focus is put on improv,
modern composition and experimental electronics, as well as on creating live situations throughout Europe involving collaborations of Polish
musicians with their local counterparts.

This year roster will be the Avant Jazz Duo Mikrokolektyw, DJ Lenar from Warsaw, the classical trained drummer Tomek Choloniewski and sound artist Konrad Geca. In Berlin the musicians will play exclusive at the Friedenskirche Charlottenburg, and will be accompanied by saxophonist Anna Kaluza and poet and sound artist Rinus van Alebeek, the well known host of Das Kleine Field Recordings Festival.

Mikrokolektyw’s stripped down style has become almost impressionistic – organically building compositions from improvisational elements. Moog driven rhythms accentuate the mix of genres and musical forms, bringing together disparate structures into a near-futuristic whole. The kolektyw has shared the stage with Matmos, Fennesz, Zu and Tied and Tickled Trio, just to name a few.
