A night of thick haze and flutter with performances by:
Adam Asnan (1983, London, UK) is an electroacoustic musician and location sound recordist, based in Berlin. His work promotes the aesthetic potential of sound-capture, amplification, and the virtues of both acoustic and synthetic spatialisation. Most recently concerned with ideas of ‘phonogeny’ (as a parallel to photogeny) in sound recording and producing works for instrumentalising reverbs. Adam is one third of VA AA LR with Vasco Alves and Louie Rice.
Andrew Pekler’s approach to music and sound is an experiment with found materials, be they samples, instruments or genre conventions. Pekler has released albums on Senufo Editions, Entr’acte, Dekorder, Kranky and Faitiche. His last release “Tristes Tropiques” is an album of synthetic exotica, pseudo-ethnographic music and manipulated field recordings.
Kathi Hofer is an Austrian artist whose work includes photography, installation, bricolage, text, field recordings and collaborative projects. Her works often launch an insightful look at the past in order to bolster future actions, establishing a critical dialog between things and context, and often questioning the mechanics behind artistic production. Since 2002, her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions, most recently at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg (2017), at the Jewish Museum Vienna (2017), at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, Los Angeles (2016), at the mumok, Vienna (2016), at the Austriackie Forum Kultury, Warsaw (2016), at the Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork (2015), at Scriptings Berlin (2015) and at the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, Vienna (2015/2012). Her essays and art critiques have been published in springerin, Texte zur Kunst, frieze d/e, and in Camera Austria International.
