Let us introduce you Arp Frique! After many productions Arp Frique realized that DJ’s never spin this kind of tropical dance-music. He even never found the right moment in his own sets. So why not put a band together and ask his musical friends to join? Arp Frique send out some snippets to Antal (Rush Hour) and KC (Kindred Spirits) and both were triggered.

After a long period of recording and mixing he finished the album and the result is his first solo album, under his new artistic profile, Arp Frique. Arp Frique “It stands for everything I love: all the Arp synths which I use extensively on this record, A(rp) frique=Africa (one of my main inspirations is African and tropical music from all decades), and “Frique” refers to the disco of course. I imagined myself in a sweaty nightclub in Sao Paolo, Kingston, Lagos or Paramaribo somewhere in the mid to late 70’s, that’s the sound I went for, the sound I love the most” The album called EXOTECA features Ed Motta, Orlando Julius, Ronald Snijders, Americo Brito, Humprey Campbell and Arp Frique himself on all instruments plus some solo features. The sound is danceable, cheerful eclectic and tropical.

The tune Nos Magia is already adopted by Gilles Peterson and got airplay on NTS, BBC6Music and in DJ sets of Antal, Hunee and Floating Points, to name a view.
The 8 piece live band got it’s o icial premiere during a sold out Felabration Party in Paradiso Noord. People where smiling, dancing and loved the tropical boogie-tunes. A full length album is to be expected in April. It’s about time to spread this to the world!
