D/B Recommended: Ad Noiseam Showcase: Apocalypse in Berlin @ Berghain Berlin, Friday, 21.12.2012

After a remarkable 10th birthday party for Ad Noiseam in May 2011, this label comes back to the Berghain to celebrate with heavy beats and broken rhythms the planned December 21st 2012 apocalypse.

If anything was ever to happen on this night, what better setting that a night of breakcore, hardcore and dubstep in the heart of Berghain?

With six acts coming from five different countries and a line-up ranging from ambient drones to the toughest of hardcore, this night intends at showcasing that the many sides of electronic music are not opposite, but meet up in a deep, powerful and “thinking-man” combination.

The Outside Agency | Godspeed

Created by the drum’n’bass producers DJ Hidden and Eye-D in 1996, The Outside Agency duo is now a corner stone of the Dutch hardcore scene. Headlining the biggest festivals of the genre, this act regularely plays for tens of thousands of people, unleasing their “crossbreed”, a combination of drum’n’bass and hardcore that it has originated and which is taken the scene by storm.

This concert in Berlin will be their first ever in this city, and their first in Germany since the November release of their new album on Ad Noiseam, “The Dogs Are Listening”.

Igorrr | Tendon

Igorrr shouldn’t need any introduction anymore, at least not in France. This French musician has taken the experimental music scene by storm with three albums (all released on Ad Noiseam) which impressed by their care for details, their freshness and their humor.

Here comes somebody that replace guitar solos with baroque strings, singers with vacuum cleaners and a-capellas with chickens, all the time keeping his material accessible and exhilarating. This concert in Berlin will be their first ever in this city, as well as the release party (on its exact release date) of Igorrr’s new album, “Hallelujah”.

Underhill | User Error
httpv://https://youtube.com/watch?v=7fl4O7e1ajY

Underhill is a “super group” formed by Dean Rodell, Current Value (both known together as well as Machine Code), Ivan Shopov (of Balkansky and Cooh) with Martina Astner (Therion) on the machines and MC Coppa behind the mics.

Underhill have received a lot of praise for their 2012 debut “Silent Siren”, which managed to combine trip-hop sensibilities, dubstep heaviness and the high-fi, clean sound of veteran drum’n’bass producers. Don’t get fooled by the calm, melancholic feeling of this album, though, as Underhill on stage unfolds its massive, heavy beats and anthems.

Ruby My Dear | Syuma
httpv://https://youtube.com/watch?v=V-PM5k_XL3U

“Ingenious”, “masterful” and “visionary” are some of the adjectives that Resident Advisor used to describe Ruby My Dear and his debut full length album, “Remains Of Shapes To Come” (Ad Noiseam, 2012).

Spearheading (together with Igorrr) a new wave of breakcore artists who leave behind the punk anthics to focus on a much more musical, varied and updated sound, Ruby My Dear infuses his break beat with jazz, dubstep and acid for a deliciously tasty whole, sounding fresh and exhilarating. This show will be Ruby My Dear’s first concert ever in Berlin.

Mobthrow | Death Note
httpv://https://youtube.com/watch?v=SK6jbNmlDk0

A sound designer for Native Instruments at day and a producer of hard-edged dubstep and breakbeats at night, Mobthrow’s 2012 tracks sound like what a lot of people will try to emulate in 2015.

Inventive, tapping from all genres, driven and energetic, Mobthrow’s tracks have been met with enthusiasm at shows all across Europe, and should work wonders on the Berghain’s well known PA.

Oyaarss | Naida Dziesma
httpv://https://youtube.com/watch?v=nBTstTQWVmM

Latvia’s Oyaarss is a fast rising act which has already had a remarkable short career with his extremely intense mixture of downtempo beats, post-rock sensibilities and dense noise.

Having shared the stage with the likes of Ben Frost, Ancient Methods, Amenra or Cloaks. Opening the night with his innovative brand of distorted, creepy beats and drones, Oyaarss will immediately set the mood of the night.
