D/B RECOMMENDED: LFSM FESTIVAL in Berlin / 02-20 APRIL 2010
Posted on | March 30, 2010 | No Comments
Spring in Berlin: The last isles of snow have disappeared, the first warm shafts of sunlight have finally made them melt away.
One of the Berlin natural laws – you could call it the “Admiralsbrücke-law” – has come into effect: As soon as the first warm breeze waves around the corner, people come outside to cover the Admiralsbrücke with music, chat and leisure-time spirit. Haruko And so it fits very well, that, in april, Berlin is going to become the hotspot of female indie music:
From april 2nd to april 20th, the LFSM festival will take place in the German capital. D’origine française, the four letters stand for: Les Femmes S’en Mêlent – the women interfere.
Les Femmes S’en Mêlent is a female indie music festival, that has built up its celebrity over 12 years in France and abroad, celebrating women in music. The festival’s name, which is based on a pun (that obviously only works in French), is about women’s position in music, about them getting mixed in and about them getting involved. What may seem quite obvious today was not always so.

Golden Disko Ship
What started as a single gig in Paris in 1997 has grown into an event spanning across several nights in Paris, other cities in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and England. Over the years, the festival grew bigger and the female scene grew wider.
Driven by passion, curiosity and a good sense of eclecticism and quality, the festival is about feminity but far from feminism. It is now seen as a unique and indispensable musical rendez-vous across Europe, and an integral part of one of the hottest current musical scenes, always providing more talent. At Les Femmes S’en Mêlent festival, you’ll find cult international artists as well as new ones, playing indie, electro, punk and folk – a nonstop tribute to female indie music creativity.

Haruko
The line-up of the last years looks like a who-is-who of the current female pop music scene: Au Revoir Simone, CSS, Electrelane, Ane Brun, Isobel Campbell, Vashti Bunyan, The Go! Team, Regina Spektor, Rogers Sisters, Nouvelle Vague and Feist.
