Gilles Peterson protégée and one of the most gifted UK vocalists Zara Mcfarlane is about to release her brand new opus on the London label – a deep journey into Jamaican music, black jazz & soul. Another amazing young artist coming from Norway is *Charlotte Dos Santos *who just released her debut album by the name of Cleo. Her influences go from the spiritual jazz of Strata East to Erykah Badu, Madlib or MF Doom.
Zara McFarlane’s music is seductive and earthy. As a performer she is uniquely engaging, deftly combining the intricacies of jazz with a deep soulfulness, melding multiple influences from reggae to pop, folk and blues with both her originals and choice of covers. Her breakthrough 2012 jazz cover of Junior Murvin’s ‘Police and Thieves’, provided a jumping off point to further explore the blurred, colourful territory in between jazz and roots-reggae.
Charlotte Dos Santos is a vocalist, composer and arranger from Norway. Graduated from Berklee College Of Music with a degree in contemporary writing and production, jazz vocals and art history the Norwegian Brazilian native is now based in Brooklyn, New York working on her debut album set to be released in the fall.
