Dead Leaf Echo + I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream at Monarch / Wednesday, 16.05.2018
Brooklyn’s Dead Leaf Echo is a music/art collective that released their debut LP Thought and Language in 2013. That premier album was strongly influenced by many 4AD acts brought into sharp focus by the mixing of John Fryer (Lush, NIN, Depeche Mode) and featuring artwork by 4ADs legendary designer, V23’s Vaughan Oliver (Pixies, Bauhaus).
The new record comes far closer to approximating their live show, with a scorching sound that is often volatile, rife with damaged guitar deconstructions and gleaming figures, yet maintains their eminently melodic sensibilities.
Dead leaf Echo will be supported by I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, (shoegaze/post-punk, Berlin). IHNMAIMS took their band name from a dystopian science fiction short story about survivors of a nuclear war. Musical influences include The Cure and My Bloody Valentine as well as fellow Berlin bands The History of Colour TV, BraBraBra, Skiing, and Jolly Goods, with whom they share current or former band members.
