What a fantastic triple bill! A double record release party with Candie Hank aka Patric Catani celebrating the release of his new album Demons on T.Raumschmiere’s Shitkatapult label and Chris Imler presents his debut solo album on Staatsakt. As if all that wasnt enough another D/B favourite Guido Möbius, is also playing so this promisses to be an action packed night and is not to be missed fo anyone interested in some of the most leftfield and adventurous electro-acoustic music around.
Patric Catani got involved with electronic music after discovering the computer game music of the Commodore64 games, Bomb the Bass (Beat Dis), Public Enemy and other Electronic, Dance + Rap music of the mid- late 80s. After a passionate time of ripping his favourite music out of games, he moved on with using the old homecomputers for programming and sequencing his own sounds.

Coming to Berlin the first time in 1993 he immediately fell in love with the city but it took a while and a few further stations until he finally moved there in 1995. Around this time the Digital Hardcore crew slowly started to come together. Right after his move he found with Gina V. D´Orio (Cobra Killer) the band EC8OR and lived the 90s Haze in full effect.

Catani’s music is nothing if not divers, even including two hip-hop projects Puppetmastaz and the Xberg Dhirty6 Cru. The Puppetmastaz started to do their first shows, collaborations with other musicians like Chilly “Entertainist” Gonzales, Max Turner, Angie Reed and many more. Candie Hank was introduced to the World, Patrics new side project that let him shake off the shadows of the often so narrow minded Hardcore Scene.

You can think of Chris Imler as a Berlin based drum legend! He played drums for Peaches, Golden Showers, Puppetmastaz, Patric Catani and so many others! This is his solo-debut-album, produced by Dirk Dresselhaus (Schneider TM). Imagine Alan Vega, DAF, Silver Apples, Hasil Adkins and Joe Meek being played and performed by one person! The Album is called “NERVÖS” (Nervous)… one thing’s for sure: It will make you nervous in its very own way!

Always having an eye on the groove, Möbius has a special liking for small parts of polyrhythmic percussion-patterns and constantly changing harmonies. You could call it playing around with hearing expectations or creative restlessness and fear of stagnation. Well, it´s definitely a highly original idea for popmusic.

Previously Guido Möbius has mostly given lyrics a wide berth. On his last album „Gebirge“ Möbius’ strategy to avoid meaning and pathos altogether was the collaboration with Andreas Gogol with his wordless dada-song. And although Gogol’s highly musical stuttering is also present on Spirituals, Möbius now goes the other way on his fourth album: this time he’s allowing himself to indulge in meaning and pathos.
