With an extensive program of concerts, discourses and an exhibition space, CTM.12 – Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Arts is appropriating the festival theme SPECTRAL to explore the current reemergence of all things ghostly and dark in experimental music, avant-pop, and art.

The thirteenth edition of the Festival will be held from 30 January to 5 February 2012. As always, CTM runs parallel to and in cooperation with Berlin’s festival for art and digital culture, transmediale, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2012. Read more

Boasting an almost Google-proof name, Teengirl Fantasy is the project of Nick Weiss and Logan Takahashi.

Weiss and Takahashi, who craft an atmospheric yet driving sound — borrowing from deep house, shoegaze, and other styles — that makes critics coin terms like “dream-beat,” met during orientation at Ohio’s Oberlin College and began making music together a few weeks later. Read more

Austrian alternative singer/songwriter Anja Plaschg made her critically acclaimed album debut as Soap & Skin in 2009 as a teenager and is releasing her second album on March 19th 2012.

Entitled Narrow, it’s the follow up to 2008′s rather lovely Lovetune For Vacuum, a set of very gothic torch songs composed largely of spidery piano, electronics and Plaschg’s thick, double-tracked vocals. Read more

Jo Zimmermann’s Schlammpeitziger project has been a unique fixture on Cologne’s electronic scene since the early ’90s.
