Founded in 2012 and based in Berlin, the vision string quartet has already established itself as one of the finest young string quartets of its generation. With unique versatility that focuses on the classical string quartet repertoire alongside their own compositions and arrangements of other disparate genres, the four young musicians are on a mission to re-address with integrity how classical music is presented and perceived by both new and traditional audiences. Their distinctive characteristics of performing all their programmes standing up and completely from memory lend its performances an added intimacy and intensity which has been widely praised.
The quartet studies in Berlin under the Artemis Quartet and Günter Pichler of the Alban Berg Quartet at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid. In addition they have received tuition from teachers such as Heime Müller, Eberhardt Feltz and Gerhard Schulz, as well as participating in masterclasses at the Jeunesses Musicales, ProQuartet in France and the Foundation Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz where they were scholarship holders. Chamber music partners include Jörg Widmann, Eckart Runge from the Artemis Quartet, Haiou Zhang, Edicson Ruiz and the Quatuor les Dissonances. The vision string quartet will perform at Radialsystem V in Berlin on the 4th of February.

1. What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
Listing to other artists’ music, traveling, and to be more concrete: our brilliant teachers.
2. How and when did you get into making music?
As long as we can remember, we kept annoying our parents with anything we could find to make noises on.

6. If there was no music in the world, what would you do instead?
We would finally have much more time to invest in our concert`s lightshow…
7. What was the last record/music you bought?
In order of appearence: „EST“ by François Salque, „Shostakovich string quartets“ performed by Hagen Quartet, „In my room“ by Jacob Collier and „Blonde“ by Frank Ocean.
8. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
We are recently looking for a producer for working on our upcoming non-classical album.
9. What was your best gig (as performer or spectator)?
2016 in Bremen we performed the first of our concert series in complete darkness. Nothing to look at but amazingly intense!
10. How important is technology to your creative process?
When you’re on the road nowadays and suddenly an idea pops up in your head, you can just pick your portable device and quickly record yourself, create overdub-tracks, play along on what you recorded – this is definitely a benefit in the process of putting your ideas on paper that we wouldn’t like to miss anymore.
11. Do you have siblings and how do they feel about your career/art?
Yes they like it a lot, just Leo´s do not, but he has none anyway.
