The Lake presents #3: „The Modular Synthesizer“ at Roter Salon / Monday, 16.03.2015

The third edition of “The Lake presents” at Roter Salon takes a closer look at one of the most important relics of electronic music history: the modular synthesizer.

Like a door to a world of endless sounds, the modular synthesizer has the potential to merge a seemingly endless number of different sounds. This night is dedicated completely to this instrument. Additionally to the two Berlin acts Driftmachine and Francesco Donadello, Thomas Kircher of the renowned synthesizer retailer SchneidersLaden will be present.

While Kircher will give in his introduction a historical, anecdotal overview, Driftmachine will bring the instrument to life with their dreamy psychotic tracks. For the creation of the debut album “Nocturnes”, the two persons behind driftmachine, Andreas Gerth of Tied & Tickled Trio and Florian Zimmer of Saroos were inspired by Alex Ross’ “The Rest is Noise” and the modular synthesizer.

Musician, sound engineer and studio owner (Vox-Ton) Francesco Donadello worked with artists like Modeselektor, Thom Yorke, Moderat and Mouse on Mars, among others. As real master of analog equipment, he dedicated his interest especially to the modular synthesizer. At the moment, he is part of the Berlin-based improvisation collective “The Group”.

This event is presented by Digital in Berlin. Check out our Facebook page to win tickets.
