Sun Worship, Nadja, James Kelly at Urban Spree / Monday, 27.07.2015

Thick drone forests pierced by grating guitar splintersare presented on the occasion of a gathering of international journalists and specialists of the global metal scene. A chance to meet up and enjoy black sonic intensities.

Whether in the frozen forests or in the sprawling urbanity of Neukölln, desolation will be desolation. Berlin outfit Sun Worship channels this bleakness into an icy spear of harsh beauty. The result is a kind of black metal without pretense or theatrics, a sonic landscape both stripped and dense.

With Nadja, Aidan Baker & Leah Buckareff make music that encompasses experimental/drone, ambient, shoegaze, and doom metal. The Canadian duo’s slowly moving musical dreamslugde and dirge-like drums has been released on labels such as Alien8, Important records, and most recently, Denovali.

James Kelly, frontman of Irish black metal band Altar of Plagues and the mind behind electronic music project, WIFE, will provide dark ambiances throughout the night.
