SOMEC (AKA Giovanni Napoli) is a self-declared electronics freak. He doesn’t consider himself a music producer as much as a synthesis junkie. The recordings he leaves behind are narratives of his explorations in sound, tracks left on his own research path. In it, every sound produced is born out of sheer love for the metamorphic qualities of raw but complex textural elements, their physical nature and their intuitive-spiritual connotations. “Source of Uncertainty” is Giovanni Napoli’s second release as SOMEC on Haunter Records. Following the same path of mind-body-machine interactivity of “Arbitrary Function Generator”, this one dwells even more into the construction of a spontaneous sonic narrative. Hardcore modular synthesis is the platform for meditation and travel, a free land hosting an infinite deposit of raw matter. “Source Of Uncertainty” will be out the 29th of June 2015!

What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
The complete loss or absence of hope. I do not make happy music, I would like to do but I can not. My best tracks was recorded in very sad times.

How and when did you get into making music?
As a child I wanted to play sax in a jazz band but indeed I found myself in a rave with a drumachine.

The “MACAO”, a kind of astronomical observatory of the future placed in Milan.

If there was no music in the world, what would you do instead?
I would do the lonely seaman , the sound of the sea is so sexy and melancholic.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would like to work with my friend Richardas Norvila aka BENZO. A true Russian alchemist.

What was your best gig (as performer or spectator)?
Cobblestone jazz, it was 2006, in a small club, in front of about 100 people. Instruments played for real.

How important is technology to your creative process?
Not much. I use old electronic instruments, that are based on 70’s technologies, the computer is for me only a advanced recorder.

Do you have siblings and how do they feel about your career?
Yes, they think that I go around with my friends to take drugs.
