Over the last couple of years, Sarah Farina grew to become one of Berlin’s main tastemakers in underground bass. Her sets are driven forward through futuristic breakbeats and intense basslines. Not sticking to any specific genre, she defines the music she plays as rainbow bass. She is one of the original founders of the record label Through My Speakers. Being connected with several crews her network is constantly growing, which resulted in many great shows being put together on Berlins concrete and beyond. Her two contributions to Boiler Room Berlin in 2013 and 2014 were well-recieved by BR’s usually very critical audience and paved her way even more for promising gigs in the future.

What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
The people around me and their energy.
How and when did you get into making music?
When I was around 12 I wanted to play guitar and I was Lucky enough to have a friend who could teach me. That’s when I got into it.

What’s your favourite place in your town?
My bed. Wow, so bed, such comfy, very chillex.
If there was no music in the world, what would you do instead?
I would learn how to use photoshop so I can create gifs that make people laugh.
What was the last record you bought?
The album by Kalbata & Mixmonster „Congo beat the drum“. Highly recommended: congobeatthedrum.com
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Probably Tikiman.
What was your best gig (as performer or spectator)?
CTM festival 2015 at Yaam. Me and my ’Through My Speakers’ family had our own floor that night. The energy was massive. It felt like we are all one and we are having world peace.
How important is technology to your creative process?
Very important, because I use my computer. But I like to have a balance, having some analag gear is always nice. Sometimes it’s tiring to look at a screen for hours.
Do you have siblings and how do they feel about your career?
Yes I do, I have 3 and they are much younger than me (the youngest is in elementary school). I think they dont quiet get yet what I do but they seem to be into it and say that they are proud of me. I hope they will get into music as much as I did so I can play a b2b set with them one day (･‿･)/
