Petit Singe is an electronic alias of Hazina Francia created in 2013 following her interest in polyrhythms and deep bass. After years spent wand ering through the outskirts of sonic experimentation and rave culture, she started walking her own path, incorporating different influences, rediscovering her eastern heritage and repurposing it by means of spiritual ambience and digital abstraction. Her groove always comes punctuated by hypnotic tribal beats that seem to fluctuate into infinity, as heard in her first release on Italian label Haunter Records, cassette tape “Tregua”. With time her sound has grown to include more strength and detail, arranging cinematic sound design and doomy pathos in a game that contrasts delicate beauty with aggression. 2017 marks a series of fundamental steps in this voyage with new album “Akash Ganga” underway.

QUESTIONS:

1. What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
My biggest inspiration is my Indian origin. My tracks contain a lot of samples and tributes to Asian music. I like to mix this kind of sounds with European influences.
2. How and when did you get into making music?

I make music since I was a teenager. At the beginning I was used to making it on my own. Petit Singe was born in 2013.
3. What are 5 of your favourite albums of all time?

Usually I’m not able to answer to these kinds of questions cause I have a “heart-playlist-ever”. Times change too fast, I am changing too fast too. Today I can answer “Elysia Crampton, Amnesia Scanner, M.E.S.H.” but there are some periods when I can’t listen to a specific genre and I totally change my sound directions. I think music is too personal and flexible to kill it via ranking.

To be honst, I’ve never been to Berlin, neither as a tourist or nor as an artist. I’ve heard really nice and positive things about the city’s music culture. I’m really curious to visit it. I’ll be there at the end of May with the Haunter family
