The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band at NK / Wednesday, 15.04.2015

Spreading Northern Thailand’s Mor lam craze across the European continent, we are excited to finally have The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band back in Berlin.

Their appropriately named debut album “21st Century Molam” was released at the end of last year and is making a lot of waves already – but still it is best to see the genre’s undisputed masters Kammao Perdtanon on phin (that’s an Asian lute) and the 74-year old Sawai Kaewsombat on khaen (harmonica) live in concert, backed by a red hot young rhythm section.

Born out of the legendary Paradise Bangkok sessions run by DJs Maft Sai and Chris Menist in Thailand, The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band play vintage molam music from Isan, in the North-East of Thailand, with a 21st century twist.

Whilst based on the traditional molam sounds of Isan, the band also draws out the trance-like qualities
of the music.

This event is presented by Digital in Berlin. Check out our Facebook page to win tickets.
