Ogoya is in her seventies, and despite being a legend in her own country, will be going on her first European tour ever. Hailing from the village of Rang’ala on the Kenyan shores of Lake Victoria, she has been a professional singer since her early teen years and is considered to be the most prominent exponent of the vanishing art of Dodo, a musical form of spreading messages and social commentary: Her unique sound is characterized by her powerful and passionate voice and is as timeless as it is mystical. See Ogoya’s Berlin debut alongside The DoDo Women’s Group at NK on Nov. 16th, 2014.
