Masayoshi Fujita aka El Fog is a vibraphonist and composer based in Berlin. Being influenced by classic, jazz and many other kinds of music, but not following ordinary vibraphone play style and theory of composition, Masayoshi seeks his own sound of vibraphone, and new possibility of it. He also makes unique and beautiful sounds using bows (for string instruments), strings of beads and other objects on his vibraphone. The music he makes has very unique atmosphere and evoke images in the listener. His first acoustic album “Stories” was released on Flau in 2013.

What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
The land scapes and the nature I have seen.

How and when did you get into making music?
I played drums since i was kid. And it was natural for me to get interested in making own music. First I made some songs with guitar. Then, 7 or 8 years ago I met a jazz vibraphonist and saw vibraphone for the first time. I was amazed by that instrument and I started taking lessons from him. Since then, I have been making music mainly with vibraphone.

Astrophysics or live in mountain.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Roland Dyens

What was your best gig (as performer or spectator)?
As performer, a gig in planetarium in tokyo.
As spectator, Ryoji Ikeda at HKW.

How important is technology to your creative process?
For me, high technology is getting less important. Analogue technology is still important. Acoustic instruments are more important.

Do you have siblings and how do they feel about your career?
I have one older brother. I hope he is proud of me…
