Following the release of his excellent compilation release on Karaoke Kalk at the end of March Jeff Özdemir is plays a at the Volksbühne’s Roter Salon in April. He will be joined by many of his friends including label mates Donna Regina, guitar maestro FS Blumm and the stylised chansons of Sofia Portanet. Plus a DJ set by Karaoke Kalk label owner DJ Strobocop. What better way to dance in the month of May?
Jeff Özdemir, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and owner of the “33rpm Store”, an independent record store just round the corner from Madame Claude in Berlin Kreuzberg. Together they will perform songs from the “JEFF ÖZDEMIR & FRIENDS” double album & CD due out in March on KARAOKE KALK presenting his current solo songs and collabos plus a handful of Jeff’s friends’ favorite tunes by Elyas Khan, Max Weissenfeldt, Nicholas Desamory, Lee Buddah (with Erobique) etc.
JEFF ÖZDEMIR & FRIENDS on stage as well as on vinyl should appeal to anyone who’s into wave music aswell as jazz, soul, soundscapes, the German language, Moogs, strings, indie, pop vocals and the movie soundtracks of Rocky & Terminator. Tonight they will play two very special sets in various mutations.
Holding The Mirror For Sophia Loren is Donna Regina’s 7th album on Karaoke Kalk and over their many releases the band has clearly perfected the electronic pop format. Their latest offering is packed full of delightful nuances both in the lyrical content and the production as well as in the arrangements. For the first time in their production history they let somebody else do the mixes, Polish musician Michal Jacaszek who also co – produced the album.
F.S. BLUMM is a Berlin based musician whose main instrument is the acoustic guitar. He has released many solo albums in the past years, and has also collaborated and toured with a wide range of bands and musicians: He took the roles of a bass player with the Quasi Dub Development, a classical guitarist with Old Splendifolia, a songwriter with Bobby And Blumm, a sonic researcher with Nils Frahm and a manic, extrovert Dub mash-up DJ as King Hobby. What he has experienced on these musical field trips he now returns to his solo project.
Completing this absolutely fantistic lineup is the stylised chansons of Berlin based singer, songwriter and composer Sofia Portanet.
