Another awesome night at Sameheads this month with a great double bill of adventurous electronic music including live performances by Harmonious Thelonious and Dont DJ.
Celebrating the release of The Durian Brothers’ album “Ausgewähtle Durian Stücke”, Emotional Response & Polychrome Sounds present an evening exploring afro-tech, polyrhythmic funk, distorted sequencing, hypnotic noise and tribal magick!! The Durian Brothers are a melting of minds featuring Salon des Amateurs mainstay, Harmonious Thelonious, Berlin’s wunderkind, Florian Meyer aka Don’t DJ and turntable/acoustic artist Mark Matter.
One thing that ties their solo and collaborative projects together is the use of vivid polyrhythms, inspired by various strands of African and Asian music. At times these rhythms hang in stasis, at others the feeling is ritualistic and sometimes there’s a brilliant sense of propulsive movement. This evening will see a unique double-bill of live performances by Harmonious Thelonious and Don’t DJ, as well as wonked-out DJ-sets from local miscreants SpatzHabibi and leading light Chuggy – label boss of Emotional Response.
