Culture Lazer w/ Sholem Krishtalka & Imogen Heath & Sticky Biscuits @ Altes Finanzamt Berlin | Sunday, 08.06.2014

A year ago he was studio guest on the D/B Radio show, now Edinburgh bassed poet, writer and performance artist Ryan Van Winkle returns to Berlin for a special live edition of his Culture Lazer series. The event will include readings by Sholem Krishtalka, film screenings from Imogen Heath & musical performance by Sticky Biscuits (Marc and Naomi from O.M.P.) plus the Culture Lazer house band, a spontaneous colaboration between Alex Highlarious Enterprises and Drock Productions.

Ryan Van Winkle is Poet in Residence at Edinburgh City Libraries following a successful run as the Scottish Poetry Library’s first-ever Reader in Residence. He has interviewed hundreds of poets for the Scottish Poetry Library’s poetry podcast and has been commissioned by the Prairie Schooner to turn the best of these transcripts into pieces for their online magazine.

His poetry / theatre experiment Red, Like Our Room Used to Feel was the 6th highest rated rated show of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012 and has been performed at the Battersea Arts Centre and in the Room for London at the London Literature Festival in 2013. He is currently working on new theatre / poetry experiments with Dan Gorman and Screen Bandita as well as a second collection of poetry.

Sholem Krishtalka’s artistic practice has evolved into a form of self-mapping: using specific tropes of figuration in order to create an experiential record of my life. But this inward shift of focus carries with it an emotional aspect: he is reconstructing, and therefore re-experiencing, personal memories. At its core, his current work explores a kind of synthesis: aestheticized fiction as a platform for the representation of emotionally charged events.

Sticky Biscuits are a duo comprising of Naom Fearn and Marc Seestaedt. Naomi Fearn is a comic artist on paper and on stage. She’s been drawing a newspaper comic strip for the Stuttgarter Zeitung since 2001 and also do illustrations for childrens books.
