No time for hibernation, British Shorts is back! From 15th until 19th January 2015 the 8th edition of the Lichtspielklub short film festival will be celebrated! There’s plenty to look forward to. The festival has been extended by one day and one more venue so besides the beloved home base Sputnik Kino, films will also be screened at Badehaus Szimpla, Acudkino and Filmkunst 66. 111 films in 5 days will feature current British and Irish short films. From Comedy, Drama, Animation, Thriller, Docs, Horror, Experimental films and Music Videos to a retrospective screening featuring the very first British silent films, which – unsurprisingly – were short films and will be accompanied by a new live score.

Taking place early in the festival season with the crisp Berlin January weather outside and warm comfortable cinemas British Shorts has evolved to become a true audience festival with many world, international and German premieres. The festival is now one of the most interesting platforms for British and Irish short films outside the UK and Ireland.Internationally renowned actors (Michael Fassbender, Judi Dench, Martin Freeman and many others) have appeared in previous festival films. We have films made by established filmmakers, promising newcomers and talented film students, a mix which makes British Shorts all the more appealing. Big-budget meets low-budget meets no-budget. At the end of the festival the winners of a Jury award as well as an audience award will be announced.
