Avant Art Festival at arkaoda / Sunday, 13.11.2022

Avant Art Festival (AAF) is a trans-disciplinary festival taking place in Wroclaw (since 2008), in Warsaw (since 2017) and also in Berlin (since 2019). For 15 years, the Avant Art Foundation has consistently pursued the strategy of presenting experimental, researching, avant-garde music and art. For the 3rd edition of AAF Berlin we invite you to Kantine am Berghain on 14th October and to arkaoda on 13th November 2022.

Born in 1998, Julek Płoski is one of the most interesting artists of the domestic electronic underground. Lauded for his debut album “Tesco” (2018), he hasn’t settled on his laurels, but doesn’t stop in his search – contemporary club music by spoiling it with industrial and noise interjections. His productions are bravura sound collages and intriguing concepts at the same time. On his second album, Sleep, dragged us down the rabbit hole of sleep, balancing rest and nightmare, while on “Human Sapiens Ep” he asks questions about humanity in inhuman times.

Kuzniak & Mahmoud (PL/DE) – A duo of two extraordinary musicians active for more than two decades on the stages of Berlin and throughout Europe. The album “Never Never,” created after 8 years of collaboration, will be released on October 13, 2022, exactly one month before the premiere of a multi-speaker installation with a concert at the Avant Art Festival in Berlin. They first played together in 2014 at the Avant Art Festival, where their bands The Nest and 2g performed. As a duo, M-F-X + B333 and soloists, they performed at the New Horizons Film Festival in 2017. Later they made several recordings together, but apart from two music videos they never released them, wanting to do so a month before their premiere concert at the Avant Art Festival, which will take place on November 13, 2022 in Berlin.

Mike Majkowski is an Australian double bassist and composer with Polish roots, based in Berlin. Active across a wide range of contemporary, experimental and improvised music since the early 2000s, Majkowski has developed a highly innovative playing style, extending and refining technical possibilities for the double bass. His music ranges from purely acoustic to electroacoustic to electronic and explores relationships between stillness and pulse, spectral qualities of resonance, as well as duration and perceptions of listening.

PL3XUS (CA/DE) is an intersection of hardware devices, chaining together aural patterns, transformational memory and club functionality. It mines its soundsources, assembling fragments into a rough-and-ready vessel to navigate spaces with the textured sequence of its own awakening.

A hallucinogenic journey guided by sound and voice through precarity, post-identity, post-human futures, queer masculinities, imagination training and simple beings. A little strange, and a little uncanny. This performance is the result of research on queer masculinity and an artistic extension of the meetings of the Patriarchs Anonymous group. Performance by Maciej Sado in collaboration with sound artist Isadora Tomasi, created as part of a residency at Kunsthaus KuLe in Berlin.
