Since 2015, the Kiezsalon has offered a forum for innovative musical activity beyond genre boundaries. As an interface between avant-garde, advanced pop music and interdisciplinary art, the series presents compact shows by artists of diverse genres, origin and status. Today, it is considered unique in the independent scene of the German music landscape in terms of its direction and continuity, and has established itself as one of the most popular and successful music series in the city.
Since 2020, the Kiezsalon has benefited from the Senate Department for Culture’s four-year funding program, which provides planning and financial security until 2027. The concerts are usually sold out and regularly feature a high number of Berlin premieres—often more than 70% each year. In doing so, the Kiezsalon makes a significant contribution to the visibility of new artistic perspectives.
