Free workshop w/ Limpe Fuchs at Morphine Raum | Sunday, 19.07.2026

Off the back of her performance at the Kiezsalon, legendary sound artist and instrument builder Limpe Fuchs will conduct a special one-off workshop at Morphine Raum on Sunday, 19 July. Over the course of two hours, Limpe guides an intimate group of participants through her process of collectively playing her hand-built instruments, along with their own.

Fuchs first introduces different ways of working with the instruments, before moving into a structured playing phase. Across changing combinations, participants rotate between player and listener, together exploring different constellations of sound. As familiarity grows, the group moves toward nonverbal musical communication through sound. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own instruments.

Limpe Fuchs has been one of the most imaginative sound artists on the international experimental music scene for decades. Over her forty-year career she has continued experimenting with “no formalism” improvisational sound and visual performance using handmade instruments and sound sculptures. Her engaging performances are meant to be carefully listened to, requiring attention from the audience as she moves freely in space evoking her natural soundscapes while playing her viola woodhorn, pendulum string, a four-meter- steel constructed lithophone, sheet metal, pieces of wood and singing in her unique ephemeral bird-like style.

Fuchs has been accredited as a seminal influence on the “Krautrock” scene of the late ‘60s and ‘70s and later became an inspiration for the experimental psychedelic underground of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s (HNAS, Nurse with Wound, etc.) and for generations after.
