This month Ninja Tune artist Kevin Richard Martin, aka The Bug, presents another eclectic Pressure weekender at Gretchen in Kreuzberg with Saturday focussing on grime and drum & bass and Sunday featuring ambient and drone.
Kevin Richard Martin aka The Bug regularly invites you to Pressure Night at Gretchen. We set up his massive sound system for a whole day to make the alloy of grime, dub, hip-hop, dubstep, electronica and the countless facets of bass music not only audible, but also physically tangible. This time there is even a weekender: the Pressure Night on Saturday will be followed by Ambient Pressure on Sunday. A spectacle that shows how well low frequencies and hypnotic drones can be fused into extraordinary ambient sound collages.
F.M. Einheit and also known as Mufti, ( is German musician and actor, known for his work in industrial and electronic. While primarily known for his work with the influential group Einstürzende Neubauten as a percussionist using self-designed custom instruments, Strauß has also collaborated with KMFDM, Goethes Erben and recorded several albums in collaboration with other musicians (such as Diamanda Galás, Mona Mur, Andreas Ammer, Ulrike Haage) and solo. Einheit was also involved in the projects Stein and Gry.
Caspar Brötzmann (born 13 December 1962) is a German guitarist, vocalist and bandleader. Brötzmann typically performs with the power trio lineup of Caspar Brötzmann Massaker (his early band), with guitar, bass guitar and drums. He uses rock and roll and heavy metal music as a basis for his music, which often features lengthy songs that start slow and quiet but gradually build to a ferocious climax. Brötzmann’s technique has been praised: “…his attack on the instrument — explosive, obstreperous, large scale, textural, timbral — asserts the material facts of string-pickup-amplifier more bluntly than anyone else currently involved in rock”.
Just when you thought Kevin Richard Martin’s music couldn’t go any slower, lower or deeper, Sub Zero emerges. A slow-motion excavation of drug-tech, dub, dreamy noise and frozen ambience, the album gradually mutates into hypnotic pulsations and melodic melancholia. It is arguably Martin’s most striking release to date under his given name.
