Son Lux is Rafiq Bhatia, Ian Chang, and Ryan Lott. Son Lux strives to question assumptions about how music is made and construct their own from a molecular level, cultivating a musical language rooted in curiosity and balancing opposites. Over two decades, the band has released numerous recordings marked by raw emotional intimacy and meticulous electronic constructions, and performed at major venues and festivals globally.
Son Lux generally seek to fundamentally question prevailing notions of how music is created in the first place, and often develop their own unique approaches from scratch. In doing so, the band cultivates a musical language that is always characterised by absolute curiosity and strikes a balance between contrasts.
Over the past two decades, the band has released numerous, sometimes very diverse recordings, characterised by raw emotional intimacy and, at the same time, carefully constructed electronic soundscapes. Son Lux are also a real force to be reckoned with live: full of dynamism, these three brilliant musicians always create incredibly powerful moments in their concerts.
In addition to their regular studio albums, the band also composed the music for the A24 film “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2023, amongst many other awards. For their film score, they were also nominated for two Academy Awards and a BAFTA, amongst other honours. Son Lux subsequently wrote the score for “Thunderbolts” (from Marvel Studios) as well as for the upcoming film “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother”.
