On May 30, 1996, singuhr opened its first sound art exhibition in Berlin. Exactly 30 years later, this anniversary is celebrated with the “singuhr XXX” festival.
The program kicks off with sound installations by Bernhard Leitner (AT) and Akio Suzuki (JP). At the Parochialkirche, Bernhard Leitner will reinstall his 2005 sound installation “Ton-Kuppel” (opening on Friday, May 29 at 6 p.m.). In the Klosterviertel and the Water Reservoir neigborhood, Akio Suzuki will present “oto-date 2026” (opening, May 29 at 8 p.m.).
At the heart of the festival are two evenings at Villa Elisabeth (Saturday, May 30, 6 p.m./8 p.m.) and in the Kuppelhalle at silent green (Sunday, May 31, 6 p.m./8 p.m.), presenting concerts and sound performances by artists closely associated with singuhr: Erwin Stache (DE), Vinyl-terror & -horror (DK), Jens Brand & Sukandar Kartadinata (DE), Max Eastley (GB), Michael Moser (AT), Paul DeMarinis (US), Akio Suzuki & Hiromi Miyakita (JP), Robin Schulkowsky (US), Sam Auinger (AT), Edwin van der Heide (NL), Hans Peter Kuhn (DE), Hugo Esquinca (MX), Ricardo Carioba (BR), Raul Keller (EE) and Robert Lippok (DE).
On Sunday (May 31, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.), a matinee on on the topic of sound space in Berlin will take place at the daadgalerie (1st floor), with a lecture and discussions by Helga de la Motte-Haber, Susanne Binas-Preisendörfer, Janina Klassen, Nika Schmitt, Carsten Seiffarth, Volker Straebel and Jan Thoben.
