ensemble mosaik presents this year’s edition of Progetto Positano at Kesselhaus in der Kulturbrauerei: With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, our scholarship recipients Zara Ali (USA) and Arash Yazdani (EST) were able to reside and work in Positano, Italy, for one month each.
The results combine inspiring ensemble culture and fascinating live electronics with the composers’ fresh ideas. Zara Ali, with whom ensemble mosaik has been collaborating for several years, will once again present charged chamber music at the intersection of electronics, popular music, ASMR culture, and video art. Arash Yazdani celebrates his debut with mosaik with a political statement on the Charter of Human Rights and a world premiere that was created in Positano.
Progetto Positano is a scholarship program for young composers launched in 2017 by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation in collaboration with the ensemble mosaik. Each year, two scholarship recipients are invited to live and work for one month at the Casa Orfeo of the Wilhelm Kempff Cultural Foundation in Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Following the residency in Italy, ensemble mosaik presents the scholarship recipients’ works in a double portrait concert in Berlin.
Since its founding in 1997, ensemble mosaik has developed into a renowned ensemble for contemporary music, known for its versatility and willingness to experiment. Its members are distinguished by their instrumental skills as well as their creative individuality. Through many years of collaboration, they have created a distinguished ensemble that strives for the highest artistic standards and is open to a wide variety of concepts in contemporary music.
The artistic work of ensemble mosaik builds on the continuity of its musical community, on exploratory creativity, networking, collaborations with artists from all disciplines, other ensembles, and event organizers, and on intercultural exchange as a reflection and inspiration for global artistic concerns.
