Pop im Nordkiez is a a four-day mini-festival as an acoustic neighborhood mirror in Friedrichshain’s Samariterviertel. The Theater im Kino e.V. brings the neighborhood and creative diversity together. With a cross-genre line-up that brings together local artists, DJs and experimental sound formats.
Pop im Nordkiez creates a platform for exchange, innovation and community. “The aim is to make the cultural scene and the neighborhood known to each other, to connect them and to overcome supposed boundaries, preferably in the long term,” says Bea Beng from the association’s board.
Caribbean-American singer and songwriter SERA KALO was honoured with the German Jazz Award in July of this year. The music of her project eXante moves between different genres, combining jazz with orchestral sounds and electronic beats. The artist is characterised by poetic storytelling and intense soundscapes.
COSMIC RACE music addresses the ongoing effects of colonialism and the resulting cultural changes. The Brazilian-born artist project reflects on identity, differences and similarities in a post-colonial world. He celebrates the universal and the collective, that which unites us and can bring us together again.
Poets Annette Flemig and Jonin Herzig from the TINte collective, which campaigns for the concerns of transgender, intersex and non-binary (TIN) people who perform their own texts on stage, especially in the spoken word field, join forces with the musicians from ROSA X to blur the boundaries between spoken word and music, which nobody will miss anyway. You don’t have to choose, you can have both: Poetry and popular music from Friedrichshain.
