Organ Sequences XXX at Taborkirche / Sunday, 9.11.2025

The thirtieth chapter of this ongoing DIY series brings together a diverse group of artists exploring the organ’s resonance through sound, silence, and vibration. In Taborkirche, the organ is experienced not merely as an instrument but as a living body of air, structure, and architecture. Its pipes, pedals, and manuals create layers of sound that interact with the space, the performers, and the listeners in subtle and surprising ways.

Romain C. Bertheau performs Klaus Lang’s ABD. Triptychon für Orgel (1995), a composition suspended between sound and time. Its harmonic structures unfold slowly, creating a meditative atmosphere where each note and silence is felt as much as it is heard. Bertheau bridges composition and improvisation, blending acoustic and electronic media to explore texture, resonance, and temporal perception — inviting listeners to engage deeply with the organ’s intricate sonic possibilities.

Vibrakū, the duo of Ira Hadžić and Tarufu, merge “vibration” and the Japanese kuu (emptiness). Using gongs, small speakers, bone conductors, and silence, they transform sound into a contemplative experience. Each tone carries the weight of its disappearance, fostering attentive listening and a heightened awareness of resonance and space.

Jean-Luc Guionnet (FR, organ) and Seijiro Murayama (JP, Drums) continue their long-standing collaboration, navigating the thresholds where sound becomes architecture and silence shapes rhythm. Their dialogue explores space, intensity, and restraint with a rare sense of presence.

Yu Chiao Yang and Marcello S. Busato perform as a duo combining narrative, improvisation, and rhythm. Yang, from Taiwan, is a storyteller and sound poet whose work moves through language, folklore, and the physicality of voice. Busato, an Italian-born, Berlin-based composer and percussionist, shapes improvisations with gesture, resonance, and pulse. Together, they create storytelling through vibration — bridging past and present, tradition and experimentation.

It will be intense, striking, and designed to stay in the body and in the memory for a long time.
