Miramode Orchestra at Roter Salon / Saturday, 18.06.2016

Miramode is reaching out for a delicious orchestral sound, and thereby meeting up with the many colours of restless electronica. The band’s compositions are filled with the energy of electronic music and, at the same time, the subtlety of jazz, oftentimes being the link between minimal grooves and the sound of a contemporary acoustic ensemble.

The 7-piece band from Berlin, founded by saxophone player and composer Ede Merkel in 2009, fills a beautiful creative space where the challenging, sometimes chaotic, always strong and aspiring contends with the traditional, accessible and purely sensual.

Heavy horns are layered with complex, yet immediate groove structures and melodies to bathe in, enriched by close wafting harmonies. In the music of Miramode, a genuine and freeflowing collectivity discovers progressive instrumental beats in an orchestrally painted world in itself.

In April 2013, Miramode released their debut album „Restless City“, appearing on „Double Moon Records“ (Köln, Germany) through cooperation with the jazz magazine „JazzThing“ and being part of the series „JazzThing Next Generation“.
