Melantónia returns to Morphine Raum with a new sonic gesture—an evening of immersive listening that resonates with the poetic stillness of sound as process and ritual feat. Daniela Huerta + Perila and Mattia Onori.
Daniela Huerta + Perila present Spiratio Somnii (premiere), a collaborative and immersive performance rooted in listening as collective resonance and inspired by the realm of dreams. Drawing from Pauline Oliveros’s Sonic Meditations and the deep listening tradition, the duo invites participants to inhabit the space between tones, voices, and silences—awakening an inner landscape where dreams become audible.
Huerta, a Berlin-based multimedia artist, sound therapist, and researcher, channels mythology, field recordings, and archetypal storytelling into hyperreal sound spheres—ethereal, layered, emotionally resonant.
Perila, the recording and sound artist Aleksandra Zakharenko, is known for creating deeply textural and affective sonic environments. With acclaimed releases on labels such as Smalltown Supersound and Boomkat Editions, she crafts soundscapes that balance fragility and intensity, intimacy and vastness.
Together, in Spiratio Somnii (premiere), they weave a ritual of sound and breath—fragile textures emerging like echoes of dreams, carried through stones, shifting like spectral memories, and unfolding beyond the performance into the imagination. This piece becomes an immersive dreamscape that asks for stillness and collective attention.
Mattia Onori, curator of Melantónia, returns with a set of unseen material—marking the next chapter in his sonic practice following his solo debut Tra Vento e Oscurità (published March 2024 via Naarm’s Southern Lights label). That album already explored the interplay of sound and silence—an odyssey between wind and darkness, realised through experimental composition and sonic design. The new set pushes forward from that terrain, offering fragile and introspective gestures that are also expansive and exploratory.
