Kiezsalon w/ Mind Over Mirrors, Michaela Turcerová and Olga Anna Markowska at KINDL | Saturday, 22.08.2026

We close our two-day program at the former brewery KINDL on Saturday, 22 August with US synthesist Mind Over Mirrors, Copenhagen-based saxophonist Michaela Turcerová and Polish multi-instrumentalist Olga Anna Markowska. This follows on from Friday night, featuring Suzan Peeters, Yaz Lancaster and Mattias Hållsten.

Founded by US musician Jaime Fennelly in 2010, Mind Over Mirrors has passed through several incarnations — including a duo with Haley Fohr (Circuit des Yeux) and an ensemble — but returned to a solo project for the 2025 album Particles, Peds & Pores.

Blending Oberheim synthesizers with acoustic and electronic harmoniums, the record creates what Boomkat describes as “a dense mass of kosmische synths, reedy drones and squelchy analogue arpeggios”, evoking scenes of both pastoral beauty and the uncanny wilderness beyond.

Michaela Turcerová is a Slovak composer and saxophonist living in Copenhagen who explores hidden and unheard timbres. In her solo project IN FLUX, she transforms the alto saxophone with surreal amplification, external sound objects and sine waves, creating intimate and surprising electroacoustic spaces.

Her debut album alene et was released in 2024, with The Quietus noting in its review that she “builds her sonic palettes from ghostly gurgles and blasts of noise extracted, and in some cases beaten out of her instrument.” She also leads the octet Doudouči Ensemble and Ensemble ŠUMUM.

Olga Anna Markowska is a Polish composer and multi-instrumentalist whose sonic language moves between ambient, early music, minimalism and the avant-garde, weaving together electronic textures with acoustic instruments — notably cello and zither — to build intimate, immersive atmospheres.

Her 2024 release Thrills and last year’s ISKRA both examine memory, identity and nature; A Closer Listen said that ISKRA “offers a deep, inviting and engaging listen through Markowska’s new microcosm in the making.” She also composes for film, with her scores including Koka and In Heaven and on Earth.

The Sudhaus in the former KINDL brewery, originally constructed in 1927, is admired for its expressionist architecture, which still remains following restoration. We are delighted to return to this bright, church-like hall for a two-day Kiezsalon program attuned to the site’s special acoustics and industrial charm.
