For the second week of our month-long summer series at DAS MINSK in Potsdam, we present two distinct vocalists: London-based singer-songwriter Martha Skye Murphy and Lahore’s accomplished classical performer Muslim Shaggan.
Experimental vocalist and performer Martha Skye Murphy uses genre and vocal metamorphosis to dislocate and immerse listeners within encoded narratives. Unpredictable, theatrical and tender, her debut album Um was released by AD93 in 2024, leading The Quietus to praise “her remarkable, fragile soprano, offset with bursts of operatic ululations.”
Murphy’s live shows are staged as spectacles, yet are intimate and affecting. In 2022, she premiered her electronic opera Postcards Home at London’s Southbank Centre. We are happy to host Murphy again after her breathtaking debut at the Kiezsalon in Berlin.
One of the most accomplished classical vocalists of his generation in Pakistan, Muslim Shaggan can trace his musical legacy back more than 500 years as a descendant of Guru Nanak’s faithful musician companion Bhai Mardana.
His album Asar was digitally released in February 2025 with a vinyl version to follow this year. Showcasing what Songlines described as his “light but beautiful voice, and a prodigious technique,” the album features songs across the geet, ghazal, thumri and kafi styles, with Shaggan accompanying himself on harmonium and tanpur.

Watch the sunset with us on Potsdam’s scenic rooftop terrace between live shows with DJs and our rotating selection of wines. DAS MINSK is easy to reach from Berlin’s city centre in under 30 minutes by public transport.
