Kazu’s Honeycomb Festival | CC No. 2 – Craving Coincidence at Wabe / Saturday, 21.8.2021

For the series “CC No. 2 – Craving Coincidence”, ausland invited six musicians to curate a 2-day mini festival each. After a long pandemic break, we’re excited to present Kazuhisa Uchihashi’s “Honeycomb Festival” at WABE on August 20th + 21st and finally meet you again!

Drummer-percussionist Rui Faustino has the only solo slot within the festival and opens today’s second night, extending his setup by electronic devices and processes.

For the second set, Kazuhisa Uchihashi will join acclaimed jazz saxophonist Silke Eberhard and avantgarde vocalist Ute Wassermann for a trio concert which juxtaposes and cross-fades very different sources of sound – a surprise in the very best sense of the word!

In the third concert, Taiko Saito’s delicate and dreamy interpretation of the vibraphone will find an ideal-typical correspondence in Olaf Rupp’s unique guitar play – another premiere collaboration which was long overdue to bring together.

For the festival’s probably more rock-ish and noisy finale, Kazuhisa Uchihashi will join forces with Frank Gratkowski, Steve Heather and Dan Peter Sundland – a constellation which was already probed before and will reverberate in our ears over Sunday, the next day – at least!

Kazu invited a fabulous range of Berlin-based improvisers and experimental musicians for a programme of eight concerts, featuring many premiere collaborations.
