Digital in Berlin invites you to the opening of the new Kaufhaus der Moderne showroom this Friday, 27 June. Timeless and unique 20th century design icons populate the new store in Berlin-Mitte. This week, they open their showroom for your perusal.
From 17:30 onwards, explore the collection, whilst enjoying wine and music curated by Digital in Berlin, featuring selectors Natalia Escobar, Felix Cornelsen, Lo Stine and Michael Rosen. Free admission and wine while stocks last.
Colombian-born DJ and interdisciplinary artist Natalia Escobar‘s selections unfold into richly textured sonic landscapes. Making music under her moniker Poison Arrow, her EP If You Don’t Love Me (I’ll Cut Your Face)—reflecting themes found in Colombian Carrilera music such as love, loss and crimes of passion—was released on dBridge’s Pleasure District.
Lo Stine‘s sound is driven by her love for horror movies and desire to explore gloomy worlds through soundscapes. Lo Stine draws influences that range from techno to Synthwave, Post-punk and New Wave, combined with current trends such as Indie Dance, Dark Disco, breaks and leftfield, among others.
With over 12 years of DJing experience, Felix Cornelsen has gathered a profound understanding of fulfilling the dancefloor’s mood. As a former member of Monkeytown Records and manager of their sub-label Seilscheibenpfeiler, Felix has been deeply involved behind the scenes of Berlin’s sparkling electronic music scene for many years. Since 2020 he also operates as booking coordinator for emerging music and arts festival Traumburg.
The new Kaufhaus der Moderne showroom in Berlin-Mitte brings together rare and carefully preserved pieces of 20th century design – mostly in remarkably original condition, some with notable historical significance. Each object tells a story of modernism – its vision, precision and timeless clarity.
