Jazzexzess returns to House of Music in Friedrichshain in this moth for another first class double bill featuring The Shredz and Els & The Bliss.
For over ten years, THE SHREDZ have been exploring the fascinating space between composition and collective improvisation, developing their own sound that blends Krautrock, Dub, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Driving grooves, space-bending effect processing, and the hypnotic energy of ensemble playing define their unmistakable style.
The four musicians merge their wide-ranging experience from Pop to contemporary music, perform as a single musical entity, and blur boundaries so thoroughly that it’s often impossible to tell who is creating which sound. The set is accompanied by light artist Katrin Bethge, who crafts captivating live projections using analog materials.
Els & The Bliss first saw the light of day in 2019 in a dark basement in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Since then, the band has provided a refreshing change beyond the ordinary. Born out of a special concert by Lychee Lassi – with Based on drums, Beat on bass, Berger on guitar, and DJ Illvibe – the turntables were replaced by the virtuosic vibraphone playing of Els Vandeweyer, opening up new sonic spaces. Today, Els & The Bliss improvise freely and fearlessly, weaving beats, riffs, and licks into a unique, high-energy sound full of surprises.
